St. Pius X School

Tulsa, OK

Constructed in two phases, this new building replaced the aging classroom buildings of the original school. The first phase comprised of the preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school classrooms. The second phase provided classrooms for the middle school as well as administrative offices. A future phase is planned to provide new library and cafeteria functions.

Included within the plan are two ICC/FEMA community storm shelters capable of protecting the entire school. The storm shelter spaces are designed to be used for day-to-day functions with large storm doors which can be closed in the event of an emergency.

A ground source heat pump system is designed to serve each classroom module individually, allowing the school’s building operation and maintenance to be flexible and simple.
