CJC Architects partnered with the Oklahoma Military Department to design the renovation and modernization of the Okmulgee Readiness Center, originally constructed in 1977 and home to the Oklahoma National Guard’s 777th Aviation Support Battalion. This facility had reached the end of its life cycle, and through a multi-year evaluation process, renovation was determined to be the most effective solution to meet current and future mission requirements.
Our design approach focused on reconfiguring and improving interior spaces to better support the soldiers, their evolving missions, and the increasing role of women in the armed services. A new storage mezzanine and classroom-style training areas were incorporated into the existing structure to enhance operational efficiency and training capabilities.
Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems were fully replaced, with upgraded HVAC controls and energy-efficient infrastructure designed to reduce annual operating cost. The exterior received a complete transformation, featuring the Oklahoma Military Department’s current architectural style, including stacked stone accents and EIFS cladding.
Site work improvements addressed heavy vehicle traffic, storage, and training needs, while all upgrades brought the facility into compliance with life safety, accessibility, anti-terrorism, and force protection requirements. This modernization ensures the Readiness Center will serve as a functional, efficient, and secure home for the 777th Aviation Support Battalion for years to come.
