Oklahoma Baptist University Shawnee Hall Renovation

Oklahoma Baptist University

CJC Architects completed the comprehensive renovation and restoration of historic Shawnee Hall, transforming the University’s oldest, tornado-damaged building into a modern academic facility for Admissions, the McCabe Family School of Education, Behavioral & Social Sciences, Marriage & Family Therapy, graduate Health Sciences labs, and new lecture and auditorium spaces.

A key technical challenge of the project was re-engineering the building to support modern program needs while preserving its historic structure. CJC solved this by replacing the original heavy timber roof with a new steel structure, inserting a new intermediate floor within the existing building volume, and using a full 3D laser scan of the 110-year-old building to accurately design and coordinate construction where original drawings no longer existed.
